LOVE AND MONEY

LOVE AND MONEY

I know what you are probably thinking, the heading sounds familiar right? Well thats what i thought when I first wanted to write on this "EVERYBODY HAS HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THIS" i thought to myself ,but this is an issue that calls for much deliberation, not just because of the pecularities of the individual terms, but the combination of them. With that said, lets get started, shall we?

Love according to the dictionary is a profound and caring affection towards someone. Love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection and to the simplest pleasure. An example of this range of meanings is that  the love of a mother differs from the love of a spouse, which differs from the love of food. Love refers to a feeling of strong attraction and emotional attachment. Ancient Greek philosophers identified five forms of love: essentially, familial love (in Greek,Storge),friendly love or platonic love (Philia), romantic love(Eros),guestlove(Xenia)and divine love(Agape).Modern authors have distinguished further varieties of love: unrequited love, empty love, companionate love, consummate love.

(Wikipedia)

Money on the other hand is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts, such as taxes in a particular country or socio-economic context. In otherwords money can vary from place to place .In Nigeria the means of money used are NAIRA AND KOBO,in England it is pounds sterlings, in the U.S it's the dollars. So basically it varies from place to place.

So now that we are familiar with our terms , i believe we can dive into our discussion fully. Even as i lay on my bed, writing this article and listening to the radio, the question being asked on the radio station and i paraphrase is "WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF SOMEONE SAID I LOVE YOU OR WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN I LOVE YOU".

You needed to hear the enteries. Someone said "The sound of have you seen the alert is better than i love you, another said "if person love me, and he nor fit send 5k that one nor be love , Also, another person said "if person just send me 2k na i don love am be that ". However, many of us fall into this stereotypes, the amount may differ, but the reality is,the ratio of our love is now dependent on the amount of money present in the love equation.

The correlation of love and money didn't just start from our time. No, it started way before now. One important thing to note is that the situation is not just peculiar to one gender alone, but is particularly common with the feminine gender. So much so that females are now synonymous with the look out for money in a relationship. But it is not uncommon to find males getting in to a relationship with older or even younger women because of money. But lets face facts, the importance of money in a relationship cannot be overrated. I mean if you were to call your beloved "the sugar in your tea, then I will say that money is the spoon with which you stir that tea. Love without finances is like cooking a soup without some vital ingredients. Okay, seriously, how can you  do the little things that matters such as treating your dearest to lunch,a gift for Valentine's day and the likes without money.  Even in families where they had been supposed love, they still have issues when it comes to matters of finances so much so that a third party might be needed. In some worse case scenerios it might lead to a fallout. Money is the backbone of love and that's just plain truth no matter how you would want to twist it. But building family without love would do you equally no good.

Am sure we have all heard this sentence before, "Money can buy you a bed, but not sleep ,and the likes of it. So ,but you can never buy their love because the moment the money stops coming, the love starts dwindling, showing that it was never there in the first place. It would be better if we love partners that are financially savvy, motivated by money and have aligned views about their attitudes to money. The reality is that personal finance issues are the leading cause of divorce and in order to live happily ever after, you must be on the same page as far as your finances are concerned.

Love is worth it so much more than money. In these words "There are so many people who are filthy rich, but have nobody to genuinely love them. Unconditional love is priceless—Suzy kasem
