The undergraduate students, Nelson Nwafor, Fortune Obemba and Joy Adoki, mysteriously went missing on April 7th, 2020.

Joy Adoki is said to be a 400 level student of Management Sciences in the University of Port Harcourt, Choba.

The other two male victims were said to be fresh students in the Faculty of Engineering

It was gathered that the  students were captured on April 7, 2020. One of the suspects, Friday Akpan, said they snatched the people in question (Joy Adoki, Nelson Nwafor and Fortune Obimba ) on the request for one Bright, who disclosed to them the casualties deceived him after cash was paid into the record of one of the people in question.

Akpan, who confessed to be a member of the dreaded Iceland Cult group took the Police to a forest in Eteo, Eleme Local Government Area where the students were gruesomely killed and buried in shallow graves.

He said one of the students reportedly had issues with one Bright, a member of his gang, over an undisclosed amount of money that was allegedly paid to the late student's account.

According to the suspect, the said Bright had accused the particular student of betraying him.

In what appears to be a set up, Akpan diclosed that the three students visited Bright's house, it was then Bright called him (Akpan) and some other gang members to abduct them and carry out the dastardly act.

He further gave a shilling testimony in Pidgin English of the last moments of the victims.

In his words, "When we carry the boys come reach here (the forest), we first of all kill the first boy, na from there we come kill the second, and then we come kill the girl last.

Stating further, he said, "Na Bright carry the gun come. The bullet na red bullet. One of them, bullet no enter him bodi na for there, them come use matchet for him head before the boy die.

"Their three enter motor come bright house, na for there Bright call us for phone say the boy betray am. Say he get money wey enter the boy account".

However, it was also gathered that the kidnappers failed to release the students as promised despite payment of Ransom, leaving their families confused.

Based on the complaint laid by Joy Adoki's brother, detectives of the Rivers State police command arrested one "Nelly", who later named 2 kidnap Suspects (Friday Akpan and Emmanuel) both living in Eteo, Eleme.

Reacting on the matter, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, who led a team to dig out the bodies identified the victims as “Nelson Nwafor, male, Fortune Obemba, male and Joy Adoki (female).
